Thank you for writing to us and may Allah help, guide and protect you. Most of the questions you have asked about the particulars of divorce, I would urge you to direct these question to the “Ask the Scholar”.

I will answer your other questions, first the one dealing with husband asking wife to work.

Allah gave men a degree over women is to give them the responsibility of taking care of their wives and children. It is the husband and father who have the responsibility to go out and work; it is his responsibility to provide shelter, food, education, and everything else that is needed to maintain the household. However, if for some reason beyond his control the husband is not able to work, or if he is having trouble in maintaining the necessities of the family through his salary, it is okay for him to ask his wife to help. As long as this does not become a condition forhis marriage to her or a requirement for staying married to her or the subject of ill-treatment towards her. If the wife is able to work a respectable job, in which she can maintain her Islamic duties as well, and it can be ensured that the children will not suffer, there is nothing wrong with her doing so in order to help her husband and her family.

As far astawba, it is necessary to maketawbasincerely from one’s heart, with full intention to never repeat the wrongdoing, and if it was against someone then it is necessary for them to ask for that person’s forgiveness.

Always put your trust in Allah and only in Allah. Pray to Him, and ask for help, guidance, and protection from Him, and surely He will help you.

{And He answers (the invocation of) those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and gives them increase of His Bounty. And as for the disbelievers, theirs will be a severe torment.”(Ash-Shura 42:26)

{Then when you have taken a decision, put your trust in Allah, certainly, Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him).}(Aal `Imran 3:159)

I pray that Allah will give you strength, happiness, and success in the future, in this world as well as in the Hereafter.
